The first improvement the Platinum Pro has vs the Mavic is flight time. By using new FOC sinusoidal driver ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers) and newer 8331 propellers the Mavic Pro Platinum has gained an 11 percent improvement in flight time – i.e. it can now fly for up to 30 minutes. Those extra 3 minutes do make that subtle difference for professionals.

But even more than the extended flight-time, the real deal-breaker for pro videographers is the reduction in noise obtained by these two new improvements. The new propellers and ESCs have reduced the noise generated by the DJI Mavic Platinum Pro by 60% and increased stability.

This is very significant when you are shooting pro-video. The noise can typically become a distraction to the models, actors, musicians, wildlife or whatever else is being filmed at the time. The increased stability is also a plus, given the small size of the Mavic, it is somewhat prone to winds.

There’s been a small increase in the price of a $100 – given that you’re already spending a thousand bucks on a drone, the minor increase of a hundred bucks is not really a deal-breaker. If you’re looking for the noise reduction and the increased flight-time, you’re not going to shy away from this drone for a measly hundred dollars.
